COMMON PESTS
Facts: Rodents
Pest Entry: Mice and rats can enter through small openings in the foundation of a building, or can enter underneath doors that lack proper door sweeps. They are also excellent climbers and will use the pipes on the inside and outside of a building to make their way in. Mice can fit into very tight areas and can make it through holes as small as a 1/4″.
Health/Damage Concerns: Rodents have been known to spread a variety of diseases and can also bring other unwanted pest such as fleas, ticks and lice into the home.
Facts: Cockroaches
Pest Entry: Cockroaches can enter your home in a variety of ways including outside cracks and crevices, pipes that enter the home, vents and sewer lines. They also gain entry when carried in on boxes, grocery bags and other items that get brought into the home. They can even be brought in a person’s clothing.
Health/Damage Concerns: Cockroaches have been known to host a variety of pathogens and diseases and dust from their droppings and skin casts can cause allergic reactions in children and adults.
Facts: Bed Bugs
Pest Entry: Biting and skin irritating insects come from a variety of places, some come from the outdoors and others are generally found in-doors. They can be, and often are, brought in on people and household pets.
Health/Damage Concerns: Bed Bugs can cause a variety of symptoms from itchy bites and allergic reactions. Reoccurring bite marks or skin irritations should be taken seriously and a thorough inspection should be done to inspect for these pests.
Facts: Stink Bugs
Pest Entry: Stink Bugs usually gain access to buildings through windowsills, door frames, underneath siding, and around gutters. They are generally outdoor pests, but they make their way inside over the winter to stay out of the cold.
Health/Damage Concerns: There are no serious medical threats associated with Stink Bugs, however, they are known for their odor when crushed. They are a nuisance pest that creates little physical damage, but can cause problems in high numbers.
